Aberdeen’s beautiful golden beach fringes on one of the loveliest cities in Scotland famed for its flowers, festivals and sparkling granite buildings. The Granite City has Scotland’s largest permanent amusement parkland just along the prom is a brand new multi-million pound leisure centre and ice rink. Next to the popular beach, the Kings Links golf course is only one of several in the city. Aberdeen Maritime Museum is in a beautifully restored 16th century building where you can trace the port’s development from whaling to Europe’s oil capital. One of Aberdeen’s conservation areas is Footdee, known locally as Fittie.
To the north of Aberdeen the coastline has varied and interesting features in a relatively compact space. Balmedie Country Park covers a beautiful stretch of sand dunes combining conservation and recreation. Displays and information on the history of the park, including dramatic shipwrecks, can be seen at the Visitor Interpretive Centre.
