Tomintoul stands on the road between Deeside and Speyside, in the Cairngorms National Park, at the southern terminus of a Speyside Way spur. It is one of the highest villages in the Highlands. Local village visitor centre depicts rural life. Glenlivet Distillery on the Malt Whiskey Trail is nearby as is the Glenlivet Estate and Lecht Ski area.
