Braughing was originally a Roman town of some importance, lying at the junction of Ermine Street (London-Ware-Lincoln), with roads serving St Albans, Colchester and Baldock.
The village clusters around the Church of St Mary´s, with its imposing spire and features some fine examples of timber-framed buildings and a picturesque ford.
Braughing is also famous for its tasty local sausages.
