Harlow is set in the heart of Essex and Hertfordshire countryside. Careful planning ensures the town sustains a balance between the needs of business and the environment. The town maintains a rural atmosphere with over one third of land use devoted to parks, woodlands, ponds and open spaces.
Harlow has gone from strength to strength for over 50 years, since it was first designated as one of 32 new towns to be built to improve the quality of life and standard of living for the post-war generation. It has become a modern, thriving community and a popular place in which to live and work.
The master plan for the town created a series of self-sufficient neighbourhoods, each with its own shopping and community facilities within walking distance. The neighbourhoods are separated by landscape wedges which bring the countryside within easy access of every resident. Early settlements from prehistoric through to Roman times add to the history of the area and today you can still find 17th and 18th century dwellings living in harmony alongside modern housing developments. The beautiful landscape of the surrounding countryside and the town“s many attractive parks all combine to enhance Harlow“s “green town“ reputation.
Harlow is located in West Essex on the border with Hertfordshire and is 25 miles north east of London and less than 40 miles from Cambridge. Harlow benefits from an excellent location providing easy access to both UK and European markets.
Harlow is situated on the M11 (Junction 7) which runs north to Cambridge and south to London, linking up with the M25 at Junction 27. To the west of Harlow is the A10 which provides an alternative route to Cambridge, via Royston, or London. The A414 runs through Harlow and provides an east-west route from Chelmsford to St Albans. European destinations can be easily reached via the road network to the Channel Tunnel.
