The spirit of ten year old mill – girl, Annie McLeod, is your guide as you glide away into Robert Owen’s New Lanark. The Village Store will let you recapture the atmosphere of bygone days. Set up by Robert Owen in 1813 to improve the standard of living for his workers, the store in new Lanark is widely recognised as the inspiration for the Co-operative Movement.
Millworkers’ House lets you find out how the people of Lanark lived and what their homes were like.
Owen’s Warehouse, a huge themed area set within one of the original cotton mills, is the perfect place to find an amazing selection of quality knitwear, separates and gifts, all at value for money prices. At The Falls of Clyde enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the Falls of Clyde Nature Reserve. The Scottish Wildlife Trust invites you to visit the magnificent and famous Falls, set in 100 acres of the finest woodlands, for centuries the inspiration for poets, painters and even New Lanark itself. First class footpaths, woodland wildlife, badger watches and ranger led walks await you on the reserve.
