Birmingham, in England, is a dynamic business city, offering a world class cultural scene, a diverse and lively mix of shopping, attractions, nightlife, major international events and exhibitions, and access to some of the country“s most beautiful countryside.
Many people don“t think to visit Birmingham since it is not one of the first cities that would spring to mind - the likes of London, Edinburgh and York being much more prominent choices.
However, few realise that Birmingham is in fact England“s second largest city. Those that are familiar with Birmingham, sadly look no further than the city“s industrialisation. Yet the city has much more going for it than that and has seen extensive investment and should nowadays be regarded as a cultural centre rather than an industrial wasteland.
Not many people realise that J.R.R. Tolkien garnered much of his inspiration from childhood haunts in Birmingham. The imagery he so skilfully created can be attributed to various places and buildings in the city. Take this opportunity to use your imagination and have a magical day seeing for yourself where Tolkien dreamt up The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings on a Tolkien guided tour.
