Situated between Dorking and Leatherhead, Mickleham is home to the Juniper Hall Field Centre. This 18th century mansion was a retreat for French Aristocrats fleeing from the French Revolution, including the French Statesman Talleyrand (1754-1838) and one of French literature“s leading woman writers, Madam de Stael (1766-1817).
The diarist Fanny Burney married French emigree, General D“Arblay in St Michael“s and All Angels Church. The church is a distinctive building with a 12th century tower, early Flemish glass, and a 17th Century Belgian pulpit.
