Ockley is situated on Stane Street, built by the Romans to connect Chichester and London. The village is very pretty, with a large green, cricket pitch and a duck pond. Many of the older cottages date back to the 16th century.
The village is also home to the Hannah Pescher Sculpture Garden which contains an exhibition of contemporary sculpture and ceramics in a landscaped water garden.
Vann Lake Nature Reserve, owned by the Surrey Wildlife Trust, is nearby.
