Probably derived from the Saxon term for a meeting place, Albury has a church rebuilt in 1830 in the Perpendicular style by Thomas Rickman. The Romanesque font with zigzag ornamentation is all that remains from the original building.
Now only a hamlet, Albury was once much larger than the village of Tiddington, which lies two fields away to the west along the Oxfordshire Way.
