Christchurch has always given a flavour of old English Charm encompassing scenery, recreation and is truly a place “Where time is pleasant”. Christchurch has many delightful parks, immaculate gardens and tranquil riverside walks, which have won the town a place in the Britain in Bloom finals in 1993 and 1994. Rich in heritage and atmosphere, Christchurch’s name comes from the impressive Priory Church, which dominates the busy town centre.

Visit Place Mill too, a restored Anglo Saxon water mill on Town Quay, which evokes memories from times past. Town Quay, once a busy port is now home to swans, geese and ducks as well as being the venue for a variety of events throughout the year. Relax and listen to musicians in the bandstand, enjoy all the fun of the fair or join the crowds cheering on the Regatta.

Christchurch flies the National Seaside Award flag with pride from its beaches. Pick up a copy of the mini guide and seek out the superb natural beaches (some of which are dog free). The majority of watersports are available in Christchurch from its sandy beaches, sheltered harbour and Rivers Stour and Avon.

The charming fishing village of Mudeford, infamous during smuggling times, is where the Christchurch Salmon are netted every year in “The Run” – a narrow fast flowing race at the entrance of the harbour. At anytime of the year though fishermen can be seen unloading their catches at Mudeford Quay and really fresh seafood is always available from the stall there.

Enjoy attractions such as the excellent Alice in Wonderland Maze and its other many adventures for all the kids. There is the award winning Christchurch Ski and Leisure Centre, which provides a great day out with skiing, ski-bobbing plus a restaurant and bar. The exciting Knights of Christchurch have brought the thrills and spills of Jousting to the town in their all weather Big Top at the Two Riversmeet Arena. The Knights can often be seen parading through the town publicising their magical shows, which all the family will enjoy. Christchurch is an ideal destination on the beautiful Dorset coast.
