This small hillside village is little changed by modern development. It has a church that was rebuilt in the 13th century, restored in Victorian times and retains its Jacobean pulpit. The Manor at Elsfield, home of John Buchan from 1919 - 1935, has undergone extensive renovation and is now divided into flats.
