Rising up from the palm fringed seafront, Torquay is set on seven green hills, home to elegant Victorian terraces and white villas. This is the stunning backdrop to the Riviera’s sandy beaches, pavement cafés and ornamental gardens. The harbour is Torquay’s lively town square; the waterfront with its striking footbridge has restaurants, shops, café bars and of course the new Living Coasts attraction.
Follow the coastline northwards from the busy waterfront and you’ll find a tempting range of beaches and the characterful areas of Babbacombe, St Marychurch and Maidencombe. During the day there is shopping to be done in Fleet Walk Shopping centre, in the Pavilion or perhaps in the pretty village shopping street of St Marychurch.
After dark Torquay comes alive again, when most will want to be out strolling the promenade, savouring the unique night-time atmosphere of the UK’s first resort. Torquay enjoys an exceptional range of self-catering and serviced accommodation including the only 5 star hotel on the southwest peninsula.
